Hornblower Cruises Wedding: Erika & Jason
Posted March 3, 2015 at 8:00 am in Hornblower Cruises Wedding
Erika and Jason’s Hornblower Cruises wedding, taking off out of Berkeley’s Doubletree Marina, was truly a supervillian wedding to remember. When Erika and Jason first met with me to describe their wedding, I have to admit, I was really excited. What’s not to love when your couple is going to dress up as the Joker and Harley (minus white makeup), and their guests are going as people out of the DC Universe? Okay, maybe this only appeals to me, but hopefully if you’re reading my blog, it appeals to you as well! I was a little giggly over how many superheroes showed up to the wedding, but I guess even archnemeses (archnemisises? … my autocorrect doesn’t like either of those…) set aside their differences for love! They also announced some joyous family news at this event, and it’s pretty clear to me that Erika and Jason’s child is going to be raised by incredible parents and friends!
I have a terrible secret about this whole wedding, though – as awesome as every super-detail was, I…actually get really motion sick at everything. Cars, airplanes…and well, you can just imagine the boat, and the water was really choppy! I’m so proud that I really managed to capture the spirit of Erika and Jason’s day while not puking over the side of the ship! And I’m really proud of Erika for managing that too. 🙂 Seriously, this was a really fun wedding!
So, let’s start with the plethora of Joker/Harley details (did I mention almost entirely handmade as well?)…
I don’t know, there’ just something I love about this triptych…
Gotta love the crane!
Not to sound creepy, but I was in love with their hotel room – these shades were amazing for drama!
We tried…! There were slightly too many smiles, I think, which is not a bad problem to have. 🙂
There was no proper aisle, they just boarded the boat last and came up through the captain’s door on the deck!
Lighting the “candles” aka cell phones.
What’s not obvious is that Batman ended up holding back Harley’s veil here because the wind was CRAZY and kept blowing it off.
A really sweet message from grandma who couldn’t be there…
THIS CAKE. I LOVE THIS CAKE.
When you’re on a cruise circling the bay, you really can’t help but take a plethora of skyline photos.
Who better to give a speech than Joker’s … best friend? Batman!
They had this game going on where you could draw riddles out of the Riddler’s hat, and if you solved it, Erika and Jason had to kiss. By this point, this friend and another were just standing there, pulling riddles out of the hat and solving them in short succession. LOTS of kissing!
Again, what’s not to love?
I wish I’d found better shade, but I can’t help but love the expressions of their faces.
Congratulations, Erika and Jason! Thanks for a truly once in a lifetime experience at your wedding!
Thanks for doing such a great job on our wedding! We knew immediately that you were our photographer as soon as you knew the difference between Marvel and DC. 🙂
And I would have never guessed that you get motion sickness — you did a great job keeping that under wraps and dealing with the extra-choppy waves.
Wishing you continued success!
