Monarch Cove Inn Wedding: Fi & Robb

Posted February 3, 2015 at 10:00 am in

I wish I really had the proper words to describe Fi and Robb’s Monarch Cove Inn wedding. The photos will really tell you about the Crazy (in a good way!), so I hope they’ll be able to properly express, first, their Indian wedding put together by Fi’s parents, and then, the next day, Fi and Robb’s “weddang,” as all the programs proclaimed. They weren’t big on portraits either, and you see that reflected here in a wedding that’s almost entirely photojournalistic! This is always an exciting departure for me, since I spend so much time normally stressing about the portraits. I love portraits, don’t get me wrong, I want that big portrait to hang on my wall forever, but photojournalistic weddings are something truly special because of the kinds of personalities it attracts. I don’t know how to quite express what I’m trying to say, but this weddang has a special place in my heart because of the insistence on less portraits, more people.

Special thanks to Annie at Annie Hall Photography for acting as my second photographer. If you ever want a completely photojournalistic, Annie is your girl. She’s amazing at capturing those little moments and is constantly pushing her photography higher and higher with daily experimentation of all kinds! I’d also like to send a huge shout out to Aimee Claire Events (link to her facebook page – she has a website, but it’s not active!). Without her at the reins, I’m not sure everything would have come together to reflect Fi and Robb’s amazing attention to detail. Like me as well, Aimee is a great lover of all things nature-mama, and we had a small bonding moment over bone broth. 😉

These photos reflect two days worth of photos, so don’t get overwhelmed!

In case it isn’t clear, what happened here is someone hugged Robb, lifted him off the floor, so another guy could steal his shoes.

Bargaining for the shoes…

Robb thought it would be hilarious to pay in pennies, which caused a lot of laughter and amazement from everyone.

Can we talk about this amazing photo from Annie? Awesome catch, lady!

The most amazing thing is that Fi and Robb made ALL the details for their 2nd “weddang” day, including the bouquets you see here (one for Fi, and one for Robb – how amazing is that? I love equal opportunity!).

It’s hard to imagine, but being unpracticed in weddings, and not having had a rehearsal, when it came time to exchange rings, Fi and Robb each took their own rings and put it on their own hands. Which is why everyone is cracking up here.

Your eyes do not deceive – this is a cut out of Kim Jong Il. … Because she reads this blog, I’m sorry, Mom. Your culture and deep hatred for this man have been completely appropriated into Internet jokes and people (including myself) actually find this kind of thing funny!

First, yes, this is Justin Bieber. But, more importantly, I think it really speaks to the kinds of people Fi and Robb are that SO many people couldn’t resist getting up to give them speeches and musical performances. I think, all said and done, all the speeches and music took one and a half hours, maybe two! I’ve never seen so much love at a wedding!

And yes, the cut outs made it to the dance floor – now, granted, there was only 10 minutes of dancing, but still!

Congratulations, Fi and Robb! Thanks for letting me capture this hilarious and amazing wedding for you!
