I was feeling a little out of touch with my portfolio recently and ran a brief special for engagement shoots to freshen myself up. Brian and Jenn found me when they flew up from LA for the weekend to see a show Saturday night – one problem! Their flight got in at 8 am, so they had no plans all day long! Furious e-mailing between Jenn and myself ensued as we plotted where to meet up and take some lovely photos of her and boyfriend, Brian. They aren’t engaged, but after so long together, Jenn wanted some nice photos. Both were also incredibly tolerant when I arrived and said, “Okay, I know the beach is right there, but we’re going into these woods uphill here, you know, where there really doesn’t appear to be a path at all.” They were a lot of fun to laugh with, and Brian was a great sport about being paparazzi-ed by me!
Onwards, to the photos. I also pulled out a few new design templates this time – what do you think?
But enough of the poetics. My new RedTree album sample arrived in the mail yesterday, and I could hardly wait to take it out for a mini-photoshoot today. Of course, just as I stepped outside into the sunlight here in Menlo Park, the clouds rolled in and I had to retreat to my porch. Alas! But even with the gloomy clouds, this album looked gorgeous!
As many of you already know, I offer RedTree albums with my wedding packages, but I’ve never had the opportunity to gush about why before – simply put, they are gorgeous and leagues above other companies I’ve tried to work with. As you’ll see below, even this sample album feels like a work of art that’s going to last a lifetime. All RedTree albums include lay-flat binding, Fuji Crystal Archive paper, and micro-fold page crease so that you can enjoy large, full page spreads of your favorite photos. Be sure to check out all the swatches at the end of the post to see their wide variety of fabric and leather covers!
Pictured is a Fabric Cover 12×12 with 10 spreads/20 pages and debossing (gloria & ryan) in the “tuscan red” color. I tried to make my photos as beautiful as the album, but it really has to be seen to be believed! Be sure to ask me to bring it along to your meeting!
Have you ever wondered what a detailed bridal getting ready shoot is like? Well, today’s your lucky day – I was hired to shoot Candy getting ready not only once, but twice in one day! I was pretty much smitten with this girl from the moment I found out her nickname was Candy and that she was a dentist. How can that not be a good combination? I don’t know! I didn’t go to the wedding or reception themselves, but I had a blast with the beautiful hair and make up anyway. Hair and makeup are done by the talented Anaa K, who you can find here on her website or here on facebook. The photos really speak for themselves!
I knew Claire and Zach in a very different time in my life, Zach as a talented young actor, Claire as an incredible seamstress. Shooting their wedding was really a walk down memory lane, full of people I hadn’t seen for years, and it was really a privilege to see their high school romance blossom into their amazing and loving marriage. I feel like one of the speech givers said it best, that this wedding was about “family, friends, food, and fun.” Emphasis on the fun! I was so lucky to hook up with Adam of Adam Haley Photo, and just soak in this 100% gorgeous day. Congratulations, you crazy kids! I know you have many happy years ahead of you.
…. with Miggy Zumba, Regine, and Monica Mark! All three wonderful teachers danced their last party at the Deseo Tequila Lounge last month, and I was again invited to take photos of the night. You already know everything fantastic and amazing and gushing that I could possibly say about zumba being the best thing on Earth next to bunnies and photography, so I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves.
As events have begun to pick up again, and with my new baby rabbit responsibilities, I’ve fallen a bit behind on making these blog posts! Claire and Zach are coming up next (followed by another Zumba event), but I can’t resist sharing this shot from today’s engagement shoot. The couple literally arrived in the San Francisco Bay Area from Holland last week! I’ll be shooting for them again this week at their wedding and after all the laughs and beautiful photos from today, I can’t wait!
You may recall that last summer I went to my very first ZAD, took a few snapshots and waxed poetic about how Regine rocks my world. Well, her birthday was two weeks ago, and this time I went over to take photos of her birthday party. It was the first time in awhile that I had been out and about, so it was a real treat to just even be out of the apartment. And what better way for a zumba fanatic to spend her birthday than, well, ripping up the dance floor? The mix was provided by Joe, so Regine never knew what song from her workouts were coming next! You can find Joe on facebook here: Joe Valderrama Zumba. You can also find out more about Regine on facebook, Zumba with Regine, or at her website, Zumbare.
This was an unexpectedly bride-heavy post for me! Nicole and Shameet had actually been married the week before in a Catholic ceremony. Both of them were pretty unfamiliar with Shameet’s family’s customs, with constant whispers of “bow here” or “hold this” throughout the ceremony, but even for all that, about a hundred people showed up to see them married at the Fremont Gurdwara. They were both pretty adorably nervous throughout the day, and their families were both very loving, delivering lots of laughs in the post-ceremony speeches. All in all, it was a pleasantly low key affair with warmth and affection to spare.
