This Week in Funny Bunny… Vol. 5

Well, first we have my ever present obsession with Blackjack. He’ll be going in for his neuter sometime in the next month or two, and rabbits are prone to sudden death in surgery (like everything else in rabbit life), so wish him luck! We’re neutering him, at last, because this past spring season has been pretty much a non-stop unspeakable bunny acts-fest, and we also want to get him a girlfriend without the reproduction of a lot of bunnies. Or just a poor spayed female having to put up with Blackjack’s insatiable bunny lust. haha, still he looks cute!
I captured some shots of him grooming, which are rare, and I kind of love the look of “wtf are you looking at, I’m eating here.”
And of course, the selfie-parade. With the green hat, I was taking a photo to complement a Time Hop post – my friend Gloria took a photo of me wearing that hat almost 8 years ago. On the west coast, I really have no reason to wear the hat, so it sits in the “winter” portion of the closet with all my other unused knit stuff. Sigh! And then, a couple other selfies, one catching a sunflare I saw riding caltrain one day, and the other showing off the perfect light my bathroom gets at about 6 pm to 6:15 pm. I also plucked that lovely ombre hair off my head this month. I don’t know what to say about that, except that the brown portion was attached to my head. James says it’s like a flickering light bulb. The hair color is shutting on and off and will give out soon. 😛
This month was also one of my favorite toddler’s birthdays, and her father Dave baked up this amazing gluten free cake for her – it’s something called a Tarta de Santiago, and I highly recommend giving it a whirl if you’re avoiding grains (OR NOT!). I’ve been obsessed with this cake since they introduced it to me last year. 😛 Don’t try and match Dave’s decorating skills, though. Truly, he is an artist.
We’ve also got a shot of my cold brew coffee disaster and a batch of bone broth (chicken and beef stock, essentially) that I was drinking up last week to stave off the cold James brought home with him from work. It actually worked, I was only out for like, 2 and a half days before I felt like myself again. Which was good, because we had company staying with us this past weekend. There’s a quick nod to my recent bookstore visit – SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK. I loved Seraphina, really unique in terms of talking dragons, and I’m saying that in a universe where Temeraire exists!
And it wouldn’t be Funny Bunny without some work. First, a snap from one of the five engagement shoots I ended up doing last month. And now that I’m through my taxes (see Biz Checking photo below 😛 ), hopefully, I can get back on track…And of course, fun stationery! One from a wedding invite from a friend/client, and the second from an engagement shoot I did. People are awesome!
TAXES. CHORES. THEY ARE TERRIBLE. I’ve found that I spend about 10 hours on chores a week, which could be a lot worse, but I find myself thinking, “but that’s like, 10 hours I could be DOING something with…” But with James commuting to San Francisco everyday, he has no time to deal with the day to day household matters and, quite frankly, when my environment isn’t purposefully cluttered, I get quickly demoralized. That is to say, if my environment is cluttered in a way I haven’t specifically designed to be that way, I start feeling kind of trapped and crazy. Which isn’t great for me doing work. Or anything. Or getting out of bed in the morning.
Last but not least, Piggy. 🙁 This was a super upsetting morning – the heater hadn’t come on in months, I just assumed it was off and left Piggy perched on top of the couch and leaning back against the heater. But Blackjack came screeching into the bedroom one morning, upset, and I couldn’t figure out why… And then I came out into the living room, and here was Piggy, scorched and melted.
I have a great love for Piggy. James got him for me because I was into Angry Birds, like everyone else at the time, but there’s something particularly stupid looking about him. And when his nose would go off and give his evil pig laugh, I would turn around and scold him because my stuffed animals must make a promise to get along with the other animals and I own some of the birds as well. Anyway, Piggy has kind of become a symbol of my personal dopiness, and his constant look of “but what did I do wrong?” has really warmed my heart over the years, so it was quite heartbreaking to see his scorched back and thinking if I’d just been more careful, he’d still be okay. We’re talking about a woman who cried for days because the nose on one of her rabbit stuffed animals melted off. I’m a bit fragile like that.
Of course, in the end, he’s just a stuffed animal, and if I wanted, I could even send him to a stuffed animal hospital or possibly try to repair him myself. It was just an extremely shocking event. We’re being very careful with that heater now, even though it’s now OFF. FOREVER. Grrrrrr….
And that’s it for this week/month. 🙂 See y’all next time!
