Golf Club at Boulder Ridge Wedding Photography: Cheryl & Rui

A Golf Club at Boulder Ridge wedding photography session!
Cheryl and Rui are probably two of the most patient and understanding people in the world – I’m so grateful to have shot their wedding back in early April! An obsessive planner at heart, Cheryl contacted me a year and a half in advance, and made sure the grand majority of her wedding details were set in stone before they were even a year out. You may remember these two from their engagement session back in March.
Cheryl and Rui were married at the Boulder Ridge Golf Club in San Jose, a slightly out of the way golf course with breathtaking views. Breathtaking, really, doesn’t even begin to do it justice. Plus, they easily had one of the most fun bridal parties I’ve worked with. They kept the laughs coming all day long!
Everything about their wedding was elegant, beautiful, and my favorite, word… fun! Take particular note of the flower arrangements by De Young Flowers! And special thanks to Amber of Mr N Mrs Photography who tagged along as a second shooter!
Mwahaha, I’m slowly catching up on blogging! Thanks everyone for your patience!
First – check out this awesome panorama from this incredible tree smack dab in the middle of the golf course!
Okay, now we’ll shuffle backwards in time… to a hair salon far far away…
The girls at the salon were my first indication this whole day was going to be full of laughs.
When there was some extra time before we needed to be at the golf course, we took a detour to a local Chevy’s – that’s not something I get to say for every wedding!
Meanwhile, Amber hung out with the groom’s side!
But seriously, just look at this amazing view!
The “Leaf a Print” – they invited guests to use ink to leave behind their fingerprints instead of using a standard guestbook.
Amber took one of my favorite photos of the day here, below on the right, with the beautiful couple framed by the purple flowers in the garden.
These guys and girls were all so much fun and pretty much on board for anything! <3
The bride overlooking the golf course…….Again have we talked about the view???
Rui LOVES golf, incidentally – he asked me specifically to take the photo on the right here. I’m not a huge golfer myself, but I’m assured that this particular hole is nothing short of amazing.
Who doesn’t love a candy bar?
Or four, count them, FOUR, different kinds of delicious cake?? Cheryl explained, “I just couldn’t choose!”
I have to explain. As you’re looking through these cake cutting photos, when Cheryl is trying to feed Rui his cake, the look of “deer in the headlights” and backing away slowly to the wall is his sudden realization that, “Wait. … people smash these cakes into each other’s faces, don’t they??” No smashing occurred, but the look on his face is pretty hilarious anyway!
Photos of the bouquet and garter toss are about 60% covered by my talented second shooter, Amber – she just had the better angle! Seriously, if you’re thinking of skimping, sometimes, a second shooter is the best idea ever!
And did I mention that this couple could get down?! Dang! I distinctly remember sometime during the night Rui turning to his friends and family to say, “Can someone just buy me a drink? Like a beer? No more shots. Please. No More Shots.” Naturally, 5 minutes later, I spotted him downing a shot! Fantastic party!
One thing I didn’t catch on film – after I said goodbye to everyone, I then realized… I had to get on a bus with all the guests I just said goodbye to in order to get to my car in the parking lot! Kudos to everyone on the bus who was just as passed out and tired as I was, and that treated me kindly. 🙂
Congratulations again, Cheryl and Rui! I wish you all the best!
Wow what a great collection of wedding memories and I swoon at that location. I really loved the silhouette b/w shot of the wedding party at the table, something very different and unique.
Such a beautiful day and what a great group of people. I had so much fun being your second that day. You did such an amazing job of making these images capture the mood of the day. <3
Aw what a beautiful wedding! I LOVE the venue, and all the purples! I also love your style, so clean & no distractions!!
I smiled through this whole post! Such a great storyteller, so many beautiful moments!
Such beautiful imagery! I love how colorful and joyful they all were! You just know they had the best time at on their day! And such beautiful detail shots too!
